Mexican Navy rescues children in Progreso and aids two U.S. tourists in Los Cabos

Elements of the Secretaría de Marina rescued two children who were in danger of drowning near the “De Chocolate” pier on the International Malecón in the port of Progreso, Yucatán. Navy personnel from the Ninth Naval Zone entered the water, performed first‑aid measures and confirmed the children were stable after the incident.

In Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, the Navy responded to medical emergencies involving two U.S. citizens—a 74‑year‑old woman with respiratory complications and a 42‑year‑old man showing possible heart‑attack symptoms—aboard recreational vessels near Punta Ballena and Palmilla beaches. A Defender‑class vessel from the ENSAR station, with naval medical staff, stabilized the patients and evacuated them to a hospital on the mainland. Both operations are part of the Navy’s ongoing maritime safety and rescue duties.
