Mexican Navy training ship ARM Cuauhtémoc arrives in Victoria

The Mexican Navy’s three-masted training ship, ARM Cuauhtémoc, has arrived in Victoria, British Columbia, as part of an international training cruise. The 295-foot vessel docked at the Canadian Coast Guard base carrying 281 crew members and cadets after traveling from Seward, Alaska.

The ship is scheduled to remain in Victoria until September 15 before continuing its voyage to San Francisco. The vessel’s arrival was marked by a welcoming ceremony involving representatives from the Mexican consulate, the Mexican Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy, and the Canadian Coast Guard.

Capt. Nicole Robichaud, deputy commander of the Canadian Fleet Pacific, noted that such visits strengthen the relationship and cooperation between Canada and Mexico. The voyage, which began in Acapulco in July, serves as a professional training platform for Mexican Navy midshipmen to develop skills in navigation, leadership, and seamanship.
