Mexican officials address electoral aspirations and social program integrity
In San Luis Potosi, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona has denied rumors of mass resignations within his cabinet due to upcoming electoral ambitions. He clarified that a recent meeting with administration members focused on budget management and public resource oversight rather than political candidacies. The governor stated he will hold individual meetings with officials interested in participating in future elections to discuss their intentions privately.
In Xalisco, Mayor Anabel Guerrero emphasized that municipal officials seeking political office must obtain proper permits and keep their aspirations separate from social programs. Guerrero noted the administration's responsibility to ensure public support is not used for political influence ahead of the 2027 elections. Under Mexican law, public servants are prohibited from using social program resources to influence voters or favor specific candidates.
