Mexican opposition parties seek alliances for 2027 elections

Opposition political leaders in Mexico are moving toward forming a coalition to contest the 2027 elections. In Sinaloa, state leaders from the PAN and PRI have held meetings to establish a common front, with PAN state president Wendy Barajas Cortes confirming that communication channels remain open to build an alliance.

In Zacatecas, former senator José Isabel Trejo Reyes has called for a broad alliance between the PRI, PAN, and PRD to challenge the Morena party. Trejo Reyes emphasized the necessity of unity, suggesting that even controversial or unpopular political figures should be included in the coalition to ensure a viable opposition, stating that “it is not the moment for anyone to be discarded.”
