Mexican parks receive Green Flag Award international certification

Several public spaces in Mexico have been awarded the Green Flag Award international certification for the 2026-2027 period. This distinction, granted by the National Association of Parks and Recreation of Mexico (ANPR México) in collaboration with the British organization Keep Britain Tidy, recognizes excellence in the management, sustainability, and quality of parks and green areas.

In San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, ten parks successfully renewed their certification, including Mississippi, Rufino Tamayo, El Capitán, Las Calzadas, Bosques del Valle, Mirador Garza Ayala, García Naranjo, Clouthier, Jardines del Valle, and Pájaro Carpintero. These ten locations represent approximately 37 percent of the total certified parks in the country.

Additionally, Irekua Park in Irapuato, Guanajuato, received the certification for the first time. To earn the distinction, parks undergo evaluation based on 27 criteria across eight fundamental pillars, such as accessibility, security, maintenance, environmental management, biodiversity, and community participation.
