Mexican players Berterame and Vásquez face mixed returns to club play

Mexican national team players Germán Berterame and Johan Vásquez have returned to club action following the FIFA international break with mixed results.

During an MLS interview, striker Germán Berterame briefly expressed confusion when discussing Lionel Messi’s retirement from the Argentine national team. While initially speaking as if Messi were still part of the Argentine setup, Berterame quickly corrected himself, noting his appreciation for Messi’s contributions to football while affirming his commitment to representing Mexico.

In Italy, defender Johan Vásquez experienced a difficult return to Serie A with Genoa. During a match against Fiorentina, Vásquez scored an own goal in the 73rd minute. Despite the error, Genoa secured a 2-1 victory at the Luigi Ferraris stadium, marking a significant win for the club after a difficult start to the season.
