Mexican police prevent two bridge suicide attempts
Police officers in Mexico successfully intervened in two separate incidents involving individuals in distress on bridges.
In Puebla, municipal police responded to a report of a young man on a billboard structure near the intersection of Avenida Margaritas and 11 Sur. Officers used containment and dialogue protocols to secure the individual and prevent a tragedy, which caused temporary traffic delays in the area.
In Tamaulipas, State Guard elements prevented a 38-year-old man from jumping from the Tampico Bridge. After receiving an alert via the C-5 Emergency Center, officers engaged the man in dialogue. He reportedly expressed that he was suffering from depression and personal issues. Once safely removed from the structure, the man experienced anxiety and tachycardia, requiring medical assessment by paramedics.
