Mexican police seize marijuana, horse unharmed in Morelia chase

During a preventive patrol in Morelia, Michoacán, members of the state police's Equine and Canine Unit pursued a suspect. One of the unit's horses briefly broke loose but was quickly recovered and was reported to be in perfect health. The operation resulted in the detention of a man found in possession of dry green leaves identified as marijuana. Authorities refuted social‑media rumors that the horse was injured, emphasizing that specialized staff continuously monitor the feeding, health and handling of the animals before, during and after deployments.

The police clarified that the seized substance was a marijuana‑type herb and that the detained individual was handed over to the competent authority. The incident highlights the routine veterinary oversight of law‑enforcement animals in Mexico.
