Mexican police undergo professionalization and security training

Law enforcement agencies in Mexico are conducting training and professionalization programs to strengthen public security.

In Baja California Sur, the State Attorney General's Office (PGJE) is evaluating 170 investigation agents through a 40-hour course titled ‘Basic Competencies of the Police Function’. The training, which runs from July 20 to September 4, covers essential skills including physical conditioning, weapons and shooting, vehicle operation, use of force, and criminal investigation. This process is required for the issuance or renewal of the Unique Police Certificate (CUP).

In Michoacán, 82 municipal police officers from 39 different municipalities have completed 540 hours of initial training for community policing. The program, conducted by the State Institute of Higher Studies in Security and Police Professionalization (IEESSPP), aims to standardize training and improve operational coordination across various municipalities, including Morelia, Uruapan, and Lázaro Cárdenas.
