Mexican political aspirants advocate for elderly welfare programs

Political aspirants in Michoacán and Sonora are advocating for the strengthening of social welfare programs for elderly citizens. In Michoacán, Gaby Molina, an aspirant for the State Coordination for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty, emphasized that pensions and welfare programs are essential for social justice and dignity. She noted that Michoacán is home to approximately 686,000 people aged 60 and older, representing 13.7 percent of the state's population.

Molina highlighted the 'Pensión Mujeres Bienestar' program, which supports 146,158 women in Michoacán aged 60 to 64 with bimonthly payments of 3,100 pesos. She credited the policies of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for prioritizing the well-being of older adults.

Similarly, in Sonora, Froylán Gámez Gamboa, an aspirant for the Coordination of the Committees for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty, called for improved inclusion and quality of life for the elderly. He highlighted the 'Pensión para el Bienestar de las Personas Adultas Mayores' for those 65 and older, as well as the 'Pensión Mujeres Bienestar' for women aged 60 to 64, as key tools for economic independence and social rights.
