Mexican prosecutors detain suspects for gender‑based violence in Oaxaca and Chihuahua
In the state of Oaxaca, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGEO) executed an arrest order for a man identified as E. C. H. following an attempted femicide on 31 May 2026. A woman survived the attack after being bound and assaulted, regained consciousness, freed herself and sought help. The investigation, conducted by a multidisciplinary gender‑focused team, led to the suspect's capture and his placement under the authority of the Ministry of Justice.
In Chihuahua, prosecutors from the specialized unit for women victims of gender‑based crimes linked Edgar Iván L. G. to a process for family violence. The case involved threatening messages, damage to the victim’s home and vehicle, and incidents spanning November 2025 to May 2026 in the Santa Rosa neighbourhood. He was detained on 2 June 2026 and ordered to remain in preventive detention pending trial.
