Mexican rectors meet to redefine higher education leadership

Female rectors from various Mexican institutions gathered at the Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit for the V Encuentro de Rectoras. Under the theme ‘Maps for change: rectors redefining the future of higher education’, the event focused on building alliances to create inclusive, rights-based, and peaceful higher education institutions.

The discussions centered on three primary pillars: institutional responsibility regarding mental health, the current polycrisis facing higher education institutions, and the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in educational environments.

Key outcomes included the presentation of the ‘Caminos para la Igualdad’ institutional seal by the National Network of Higher Education Institutions (RENIES) and the signing of the ‘Sororidad en espacios de poder’ pact among female rectors. The meeting emphasized the importance of diversity, sustainability, and social responsibility in shaping the future of the country's academic landscape.
