Mexican Red Cross expands training for emergency medical technicians

The Mexican Red Cross is expanding its training programs for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to strengthen regional prehospital care. In Tijuana, the 51st generation of trainees recently underwent rigorous theoretical and practical examinations at the Universidad de las Californias Internacional (UDCI) to demonstrate their ability to handle clinical cases involving trauma and common illnesses.

In Lázaro Cárdenas, the local Red Cross delegation has announced a new training cycle beginning September 5. This one-year program includes Basic and Advanced Life Support training and is recognized by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) and the Mexican Red Cross. Graduates who pass the national evaluation also receive international certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). The training initiative coincides with the planned integration of the delegation’s first intensive care ambulance in 2027.
