Mexican regional authorities present cultural heritage awards

Regional authorities in Mexico have issued cultural honors to recognize significant contributions to heritage and the arts.

In Campeche, Governor Layda Sansores presented the Justo Sierra Méndez State Award, the Maestro de América, and the Campeche Award. Anthropologist Elvira del Carmen Tello received recognition for her four decades of field research and cultural promotion. The Campeche Award was awarded posthumously to Manuel de la Cruz Martínez for his artistic and cultural legacy.

In Guerrero, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda presented the ‘Sentimientos de la Nación’ award to Bernardo Rosendo Ponce. The award recognizes his artistic career and his work in preserving traditional craft techniques from Olinalá and the La Montaña region. The ceremony coincided with the 213th anniversary of the installation of the First Congress of Anáhuac.
