Mexican regional leaders report economic growth and infrastructure progress

In Hidalgo, Governor Julio Menchaca presented his Fourth Report of Results, highlighting economic and social indicators. He reported a reduction in poverty from 41% to 35%, affecting 154,000 people, and noted that the state led the nation in permanent formal job creation with over 39,000 new positions. Economic growth reached 8.2% in the first quarter of 2026, supported by a 132% increase in the construction industry and a reduction in inherited public debt by 42%.

In Guerrero, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda announced an investment exceeding 70 million pesos in infrastructure, including roads, education, health, and water. Specifically, the rehabilitation of the water supply system in Tierra Colorada, costing 15.74 million pesos, is expected to increase water supply by 50% for over 9,800 residents.

Legislative developments in Guerrero include a proposal by Deputy Obdulia Naranjo Cabrera for an Environmental Responsibility Law to ensure fines from environmental damage are used for biodiversity restoration. Additionally, Deputy Aristóteles Tito Arroyo has called for the integration of indigenous representation within the state's Judicial Power to ensure constitutional rights are reflected in the judiciary.
