Mexican residents launch petitions for road repairs and facility relocation

Residents in different Mexican municipalities are organizing petitions to address local infrastructure and environmental concerns.

In Ixtapaluca, neighbors of the Melchor Ocampo neighborhood have begun collecting 5,000 signatures to demand the repaving of Leyes de Reforma Avenue. Residents and public transport operators report that the road has lacked maintenance for over five years, resulting in severe potholes that pose risks to pedestrians and cause vehicle damage. The group is seeking a formal response from Municipal President Felipe Rafael Arvizu de la Luz.

In Zapopan, residents of Jardines de la Enramada, Jardines del Vergel, and surrounding areas have gathered 475 signatures demanding the relocation of a crematorium and animal holding area at the Centro Integral de Salud Animal. Neighbors report suffering from foul odors and constant noise from barking and crying animals, particularly during late-night cremations. They claim these conditions have led to respiratory issues, allergies, and sleep disturbances for children and the elderly.
