Mexican search collectives demand reactivation of identification centers

Activists from the Colectivo Amor por los Desaparecidos met with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in Tamaulipas to demand the reactivation of a human identification center. The group, led by Edith González, reported that the current lack of operational infrastructure is hindering the identification of remains found in clandestine graves along the border.

In addition to requesting federal support to reopen the identification facilities, the collective requested Sheinbaum’s mediation to secure an audience with Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya to address institutional failures in field search operations.

In a separate instance of ongoing search efforts, families of three men disappeared from Chinameca, Veracruz, have renewed calls for justice and information regarding their whereabouts. The families are seeking confirmation on whether human remains found in Jáltipan may belong to their relatives, emphasizing the state's responsibility to guarantee truth and security in cases of forced disappearance.
