Mexican Senate approves U.S. military training in Chihuahua

The Mexican Senate has unanimously approved the entry of 139 U.S. military personnel into the state of Chihuahua for joint training exercises. The members of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division are scheduled to arrive via U.S. Air Force aircraft on September 20, carrying weaponry.

The specialized joint exercise will take place at the National Training Center in Santa Gertrudis, located within the 5th Military Air Zone. The operation aims to strengthen operational capacities between the armed forces of both nations through the planning and execution of military operations.

According to the Senate, the activity is conducted under principles of respect, sovereignty, territorial integrity, shared responsibility, mutual trust, and collaboration without subordination. This follows previous training exercises in the same region involving U.S. troops in 2025.
