Mexican Senate proposes new cooperation with New York Legislature

Mexican Senator Ruth González Silva, president of the North America Foreign Relations Commission, has proposed a new era of cooperation between the Mexican Senate and the New York State Legislature. The proposed agenda focuses on migration, education, culture, and investment.

During meetings with the Hispanic Group of the Assembly and the Senate of the State of New York, officials discussed strengthening protections for migrants, including legal guidance and consular services. Educational initiatives aim to expand academic exchanges and bring educational programs closer to Mexican communities.

Economic discussions included connecting small businesses and entrepreneurs to investment and promotion instruments. Legislators noted that over 550,000 people of Mexican origin live in New York State, with approximately 360,000 residing in New York City. The dialogue seeks to transform parliamentary discussion into concrete actions regarding security, drug combat, and migration.
