Mexican Senate to host digital security and neurotechnology summit

The Mexican Senate will hold a Citizen Digital Security Conference from October 20 to 22. Organized by the Digital Rights Commission, chaired by Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, the event aims to inform the public about internet threats and promote digital risk prevention.

The program features roundtables focusing on neurotechnologies and the protection of brain rights, biometric data and digital identity, and the Internet of Things. Specific sessions will address vulnerabilities in neural signal reading, cognitive manipulation risks, and the necessity of incorporating security-by-design in neurotechnological hardware and software.

Additionally, the event includes practical workshops on privacy and security in Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) and neural reading devices to examine technical vulnerabilities in neural telemetry transmission. The conference will also feature film screenings exploring the societal impacts of emerging technologies.
