Mexican senators rally behind President Sheinbaum, stress national sovereignty
Senator Ana Lilia Rivera told audiences in Tlaxcala that defending Mexico’s sovereignty requires honest, people‑focused governments and the continuation of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s transformation agenda. She linked the nation’s independence to transparent public service and the reduction of inequality.
Senator Vero Díaz echoed the theme, recalling former President Donald Trump’s 2017 attacks on Mexico and praising former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s stance on national unity. Díaz affirmed her support for Sheinbaum’s efforts to guard Mexico against external pressure and to advance social justice, urging continued regional work to strengthen the nation’s project.
Both legislators framed sovereignty as a core priority of the current administration, emphasizing ethical governance and resistance to foreign interference.
