Mexican seniors get tax relief and retail discounts under new programs

The municipal government of Cuautla, Morelos, announced a Campaign of Discounts on Property Tax (Predial) and Cadastre for seniors. Adults aged 60 and over will receive a 60 % reduction on the basic property tax and cadastre fees, and a 50 % cut on updates and surcharges, pursuant to article 82 of the local revenue law for the 2026 fiscal year. Mayor Salvador Molina Martínez said the measures aim to ease family budgets and encourage tax regularisation.

Separately, the retail chains Soriana and Chedraui Selecto have published an INAPAM‑benefits directory for 2026, granting seniors up to 20 % off at participating stores within their shopping complexes. Discounts of 10 % are offered at several footwear outlets, such as Nazan Commercializadora in Saltillo, Coahuila, and at other locations in Nuevo León, Quintana Roo, Tamaulipas and other states. Additional 10‑20 % cuts apply to phone‑repair shops, pawn‑shops and beauty services, with a 20 % discount noted at Globos Estética Familiar in Mérida, Yucatán. Seniors must present a valid INAPAM credential to receive the benefits.
