Mexican State Congress and IFSE to increase municipal oversight

The State Congress and the Institute of Superior State Oversight (IFSE) are coordinating efforts to strengthen the monitoring of public resource management. This initiative aims to prevent administrative excesses in municipalities and ensure that government programs and support are distributed without political or partisan bias.

Deputy Luis Fernando Gámez Macías, president of the LXIV Legislature, emphasized the need to intensify these efforts ahead of the 2027 electoral process. He noted that fiscal oversight must remain continuous, particularly within city councils, to prevent impunity and ensure budgets address actual population needs. Gámez Macías also expressed concern regarding the absence of certain mayors from recent training sessions focused on revenue laws and construction values for the 2027 fiscal year.
