Mexican state officer detained with firearm linked to criminal group in Tecate

On June 12, agents of the Grupo Proteo "4-25" unit of the State Public Security Force (FESC) arrested Juan José "N", a 27‑year‑old resident of Tecate, after he attempted to flee a police patrol in the Hacienda San Pablo neighborhood. During the encounter officers recovered a short‑range 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol with a loaded magazine of five rounds. The suspect and the weapon were transferred to the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for further investigation and possible prosecution for involvement in organized violent activities.

The arrest was part of a public‑security operation in a priority area of the city, and the detained individual was read his rights before being taken into custody.
