Mexican States Address Allegations Involving Public Employees and Municipal Officials

The government of the state of Morelos publicly denied circulating rumors of a legislative initiative that would reduce benefits or rights for public‑service workers. Secretary of Government Edgar Maldonado said no proposal has been filed, emphasized respect for labor gains, and urged staff to rely on official sources for information.

In the state of Michoacán, the State Attorney General's Office opened an investigation after a municipal president reported being extorted by external agents. Officials disclosed arrests of several police officers and municipal security leaders in connection with kidnapping, robbery and other crimes, and said the probe will continue regardless of the officials involved.
