Mexican States Boost Election Funding and Security Operations

The State of Mexico's electoral institute secured a commitment from the state finance secretary to provide additional resources for the 2026‑2027 elections, with a projected need of 261 million pesos for staffing, equipment and coordination with the national electoral authority.

In Coahuila, the state government outlined a three‑part agenda that includes reinforced road security through coordinated federal and state forces, continued efforts to curb irregular migration along the northern border, and discussion of recent electoral reforms that introduce candidate eligibility filters while raising concerns about reduced minority representation in municipal councils.
