Tamaulipas pushes beach ordering and mangrove restoration under Governor Villarreal
State, federal and municipal officials met in Soto la Marina to review progress on a coastal‑ordering plan for Tamaulipas beaches. The agenda included defining public and restricted zones, protecting natural areas, improving visitor safety, combating pollution and regulating tourist vendors. Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and Tourism Secretary Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez said the effort aims to balance tourism growth with marine‑coastal conservation.
Separately, the Secretariat of Urban Development and Environment (SEDUMA) organized an environmental‑education and mangrove‑restoration workshop at the Universidad Tecnológica del Mar in La Pesca. Participants from three levels of government, schools, civil‑society groups and local families pledged support for mangrove recovery, carbon capture and shoreline protection. SEDUMA Secretary Karl Heinz Becker Hernández highlighted the role of early‑age environmental education in creating lasting stewardship. The event included a boat tour of reforested mangrove sites and the planting of native trees, reinforcing the administration’s policy of community‑based environmental action.
Both initiatives reflect the state’s strategy to develop sustainable tourism while safeguarding coastal ecosystems and supporting local economies.
