Tamaulipas Governor and UAT Rector Install Interinstitutional Command Post for Cyclone Preparedness
The state government of Tamaulipas, led by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, and the rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, formally installed an Interinstitutional Command Post for civil protection. The ceremony, held during a special session of the State Civil Protection Council, also featured the National Coordinator of Civil Protection, Laura Velázquez Alzúa.
The command post is designed to coordinate the three levels of government in responding to emergencies from the 2026 rainy season and tropical cyclones. Federal officials presented a technical document titled “Analysis and Evaluation of Hydrometeorological Risks of the State of Tamaulipas,” outlining vulnerable river basins and flood‑prone areas. Simultaneously, the state unveiled the “Clima Tamaulipas” platform, a real‑time monitoring system using a network of 20 meteorological stations that report temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind, pressure, UV index and air quality.
The installation underscores the state’s commitment to improve disaster preparedness, enhance data sharing among authorities, and protect lives and property during the upcoming cyclone season.
