Mexican states launch discounted and free will-making campaigns

Mexican states are implementing initiatives to facilitate the creation of wills through discounted or free services.

In San Luis Potosí, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona launched the ‘September to December, Months of the Testament’ campaign. The program offers preferential pricing to families to protect assets and prevent legal disputes. Specifically, members of the State Civil Guard, Red Cross paramedics, and firefighters are eligible to complete the process free of charge as recognition for their service. The state also considers extending these benefits to the National Guard, the Armed Forces, and senior citizens.

In Tamaulipas, the Notaries College is negotiating to expand existing benefits. While a 50 percent discount is typically offered during September, officials are discussing making the process entirely free for vulnerable populations. A formal decision regarding the specific cases eligible for free service is expected to be announced following meetings in Ciudad Victoria.
