Mexican states launch free psycholegal aid centers for women and families of missing persons
The Government of Jalisco inaugurated a new 1,400‑square‑metre center on Calzada del Federalismo Norte #2268, designed to serve up to 500 people each month. Operated by the state DIF system, the facility provides free psychosocial, legal and social‑work assistance to families of missing persons and to women recently released from prison. The "Acompañar la ausencia" program for families of the disappeared has a budget exceeding 40 million pesos for fiscal year 2026 and grants bimonthly economic support of 3,000 pesos to beneficiaries, currently counting 2,400 registered users in 17 municipalities.
In Querétaro, municipal authorities reported 422 psycholegal attendances to women between January and June, including 152 legal consultations and 270 psychological sessions, delivered through modules in several delegations and the Centro de Empoderamiento. Officials aim to establish a module in every municipal delegation by the end of the year and continue empowerment and employment workshops for more than 600 women.
The State of Mexico will run mobile "Caravanas de Justicia Social" from 29 July to 1 August in five municipalities—San Antonio la Isla, Rayón, La Paz, Isidro Fabela and Jilotzingo. The caravans, staffed by the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Comisión Ejecutiva de Atención a Víctimas (CEAVEM), will offer legal orientation, psychological counseling, complaint filing and case follow‑up, intended to lower travel costs and improve access to justice for local residents.
