Mexican states launch programs to protect migrants and boost migrant tourism

The Puebla state Congress' Migration and International Affairs Committee, led by Deputy Araceli Celestino Rosas, approved a resolution urging the Instituto Poblano de Asistencia al Migrante to expand outreach, orientation and fraud‑prevention efforts for residents seeking work abroad, especially to Canada. The measure calls for greater dissemination of official labor‑mobility channels and advice services to safeguard migrants and their families from visa scams and unauthorized recruitment agencies.

In Zacatecas, Governor David Monreal Ávila introduced the "Paisano Rewards" platform through the state migrant office (Sezami) and the tourism secretariat (Secturz). The website offers discounts, special rates and incentives from local hotels, restaurants, tour operators and other tourism businesses to members of the Zacan‑tecan migrant community. Officials say the initiative will encourage safe travel, increase economic spending by migrants, and strengthen social ties between migrants and their home region.
