Zacatecas begins deployment of electric buses for Platabús system

The first 20 electric buses for the Platabús system have arrived in Zacatecas to begin modernizing public transportation for the Zacatecas and Guadalupe metropolitan areas. The fleet is part of a larger plan to introduce 122 electric units designed to accommodate the region's specific topography, featuring high-capacity batteries for steep inclines and appropriate turning radii for urban streets.

The total fleet will be distributed among various routes: 70 feeder units, 40 for the trunk axis, two for the airport, and 10 smaller units for high-frequency service in the Historic Center. The system aims to serve over 190,000 daily users with a single fare of 11 pesos, including free transfers via prepaid cards. Subsidies will be available for students, seniors, and people with disabilities.

To ensure accessibility and safety, the vehicles include features such as kneeling systems, ramps for people with disabilities, Braille signage, tactile flooring, air conditioning, video surveillance, and panic buttons. The units feature a “rosa cantera” color scheme, referencing the city's characteristic stone.
