Mexican states of Puebla and Oaxaca enhance missing‑persons search programs

The government of Puebla announced a renewed dialogue with families and search collectives, including Voz de los Desaparecidos, Red de Búsqueda de Personas and others. Officials from the state executive, the Commission for Victim Attention, the State Search Commission, the Interior Ministry and the State Attorney General met to review commitments, progress and future actions, pledging ongoing coordination and support for families of the disappeared.

In Oaxaca, the governor Salomón Jara Cruz inaugurated the State Search Plan for Missing Persons, the first such plan in the South‑Southeast region and the third in the country. The plan, created with input from search collectives, a citizen council and families, will guide public policies, improve inter‑institutional coordination, establish identification mechanisms and provide legal certainty for search operations. Both states aim to strengthen institutional response to disappearances and uphold human‑rights obligations.
