Mexican states open high‑school enrollment without entrance exams

The education secretaries of Quintana Roo and Puebla announced new enrollment phases for public high‑school programs. In Quintana Roo, nearly 24,000 applicants have completed registration for the 2026‑2027 school year, with 25,659 available spots across the state's 11 municipalities. For the first time, placement will be assigned without a entrance exam, using an algorithm that prioritizes the applicant’s first‑choice school and factors such as sibling attendance, proximity, age and state of origin. Results are slated for 8 July.

In Puebla, the state SEP opened a supplementary registration period from 15 to 19 June, offering 15,000 seats in various subsystems including general, digital, technical and distance high‑school programs. Applicants must register online, providing identification and selecting up to three preferred schools. Allocation will consider special educational needs, school capacity and demand, with results to be posted on 26 June.
