Mexican states push new forest fire law and agrarian support initiatives

In San Luis Potosí, the state government advanced a draft law aimed at strengthening prevention, combat and integrated management of forest fires. The proposal, presented by local deputy Tomás Zavala González, seeks to create a modern legal framework for fire control in agricultural, ranching and forested areas, with coordination among state, federal and academic experts.

Separately, the State of Mexico inaugurated its First State Meeting of Agricultural Attention Centers. Prosecutor Víctor Suárez Carrera highlighted a federal policy to defend, rescue and revalue ejidos and rural communities, noting the role of the centers in providing legal assistance, mediation and development planning. The meeting also referenced land contributions for the Mexico‑Querétaro rail project and plans to add five new centers to expand support for agrarian stakeholders.
