Mexican states San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas announce public worker raises

State governments in San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, Mexico, have announced salary increases and improved benefits for their respective public workforces.

In San Luis Potosí, the state government agreed to a 3.5 percent direct salary increase and a 7 percent increase in benefits for state workers. This decision followed negotiations between the administration and union representatives, including the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores al Servicio del Gobierno del Estado (SUTSGE).

In Zacatecas, Governor David Monreal Ávila announced a series of labor adjustments aimed at economic strengthening. Contract and non-unionized base workers will receive a 4 percent salary increase, while middle management, senior staff, and trusted personnel will see a 6 percent increase. Additionally, the administration is doubling the grocery allowance (despensa) for certain workers, raising it from approximately 1,500 pesos to 3,100 pesos per month. The governor also noted the elimination of two of the lowest salary categories to improve labor conditions.
