Mexican Swimmer Celia Pulido Wins Sixth Gold at 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

Mexican swimmer Celia Pulido secured her sixth gold medal at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, winning the 100‑metre backstroke in a new Central American record of 1:00.83. The victory added to her haul of individual titles in the 100‑metre freestyle, 50‑metre backstroke and multiple relay golds, as well as a silver in the 50‑metre freestyle.

Pulido said that the support of her boyfriend in the stands gave her extra motivation, and she praised the pool conditions at the Juan Pablo Duarte Aquatic Center. The win also qualified her for the upcoming Pan American Games and the World Championships scheduled for December.
