Veracruz governor initiates dialogue with SNTE Section 32 after teacher protests

Teachers of the SNTE Section 32 staged a series of protests across Veracruz, including a march in Xalapa on July 13 and a demonstration in Poza Rica demanding prompt assignment of vacant teaching posts, school reconstruction, and improved pensions for retirees. The mobilisations highlighted shortages of teachers, delayed vacancies, and inadequate infrastructure, especially in schools still affected by past floods.

In response, Governor Rocío Nahle García convened a dialogue table on Saturday at the Secretariat of Government, attended by Secretary of Government Ricardo Ahued Bardahuil, Education Secretary Claudia Tello Espinosa, and union leaders. The meeting aimed to review each demand and determine whether resolutions lay with the state or require federal coordination. Nahle affirmed respect for teachers' rights and pledged to prioritize their economic and labour welfare, promising that legitimate requests would be addressed one by one.
