Mexican teen Daniel Luna wins global marimba solo talent prize in Belgium

Fifteen‑year‑old Daniel Luna Flores, a native of Coatepec in Veracruz, Mexico, was awarded the Best Solo Talent prize at the Universal Marimba Competition & Festival Belgium 2026. Competing against 64 other international marimbists, he secured the "Solo Talent Prize" and brought recognition to his hometown, state and country.

After returning to Mexico, Luna received a municipal honor for his achievement. He continues to practice daily, traveling from Coatepec to Xalapa, and is seeking funds to purchase his own marimba so he can prepare for future international contests.
