Gilberto Mora’s market value soars to €25 million after World Cup, sparking European club interest
Mexican midfielder Gilberto Mora of Xolos de Tijuana saw his Transfermarkt market value jump from €10 million to €25 million following his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making him the most valuable player in Liga MX. The increase, a 150 % rise, placed him among the top‑10 most‑valued players under 18 worldwide.
His World Cup showing – 213 minutes, starting three knockout‑stage matches and becoming the youngest Mexican to play both as a substitute and a starter – has attracted attention from European clubs. Former German captain Lothar Matthäus reported that Borussia Dortmund is monitoring the 17‑year‑old, and other clubs such as Ajax, Feyenoord, Liverpool, Juventus and PSG have also shown interest. Mora’s contract with Xolos runs until 2029 with a release clause that could facilitate a move once he turns 18 in October 2026.
