Mexican tortilla shop renames business after stray cat

A stray black cat named Pachuco has become the namesake of a Mexican tortilla shop after being taken in by its owner. Originally a thin street cat searching for food, Pachuco entered a local shop drawn by the aroma of cooking tortillas.

Señora Mago, the shop owner known as ‘La Güera’ who has operated the business for over 20 years, chose to feed and shelter the cat rather than drive it away. Over time, Pachuco became a beloved fixture of the establishment and a local mascot.

When the shop underwent renovations, the owner decided to honor the cat by officially changing the business name to ‘Tortillería La Güera y Pachuco’. The new signage also features an illustration of the black cat to commemorate their bond.
