Mexican towns fix collapsed drainage pipes in Tamaulipas and Sonora

In The Mante, Tamaulipas, Mayor Patty Chío oversaw the rapid replacement of 60 metres of 10‑inch PVC pipe on Calle Tamesí in the Anáhuac 2 neighborhood. The work, carried out by the municipal water agency COMAPA, restored the collapsed sanitation line without charging residents, with costs fully absorbed by the municipality and COMAPA.

In Navojoa, Sonora, Mayor Jorge Alberto Elías Retes ordered a temporary shutdown of water service to the eastern part of the city after the Centenario collector collapsed. Technicians began installing a new 36‑inch pipe at 04:00 h on Monday, and the potable water supply was expected to be fully restored by Tuesday. The incident coincided with a 43 % rise in wastewater flow in the area.

Both projects aim to improve local water and sanitation infrastructure and prevent further service disruptions for thousands of households.
