Mexican towns launch citizen monitoring of public works and drainage upgrades

In Huejutla de Reyes, Hidalgo, state and municipal officials conducted a training for 20 members of local Social Audit Committees, teaching them how to supervise public‑works projects. The event, held at the Instituto Tecnológico de Huejutla, was attended by mayor Alfredo San Román, state auditor Álvaro Bardales and representatives from the municipal comptroller’s office and public‑works directorate, who stressed the importance of transparency and citizen participation in ensuring proper use of public funds.

In Huejotzingo, Puebla, mayor Roberto Solís Valles inaugurated a comprehensive rehabilitation of 52 storm‑water grates. The project involves excavating, reinforcing with concrete, installing new metal frames and grates, and deep cleaning of the drainage pipes to restore capacity and reduce flood risk during the rainy season.
