Mexican towns launch senior‑citizen initiatives in Zacapu and Zacatecas
The municipal government of Zacapu, Michoacán, led by Mayor Mónica Valdez Pulido, met with members of the local retirees' union to reinforce dialogue and present programs aimed at improving the welfare of older workers. Valdez highlighted ongoing actions to support senior citizens through municipal services and emphasized the importance of continuous communication with community sectors.
In Zacatecas, state authorities organized the election of a “Reina” for the Casa de Día AMAT‑TE, a day‑care centre for seniors. Juanita Muñoz was chosen to represent the residents, an event framed as a way to foster participation, integration and better quality of life for older adults. Both initiatives illustrate local efforts to enhance inclusion and well‑being for Mexico’s elderly population.
