Mexican towns launch women’s skill‑training workshops for economic autonomy

The municipal DIF office in Zacapu, Michoacán opened registration for two women‑focused workshops: cake‑decorating classes beginning 1 July and artisanal gelatin making starting 2 July. The programs, promoted by honorary DIF president Estela Pulido, aim to give participants marketable skills to generate income for their families.

In Guadalupe, Zacatecas, the municipal government led by Mayor Pepe Saldívar held a graduation ceremony for a carpentry course that taught over 40 mothers how to build rustic furniture from pallets. Participants produced more than 120 pieces, including benches and tables, after receiving donated materials from local firms. The initiative was presented as part of broader auto‑employment efforts to strengthen women’s economic independence in the region.
