Mexican towns Temixco, Matamoros begin intensive dengue control drives
In Temixco, Morelos, Mayor Israel Piña Labra inaugurated a large‑scale dengue‑prevention day. Municipal teams began systematic cleaning, thermonebulisation of streets, larvicide application in water containers and collection of old tires to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. The mayor urged residents to keep homes free of standing water, stating, “With prevention and work on the ground we protect the health of Temixco’s families.”
In Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mayor Beto Granados launched an intensive fumigation and breeding‑site elimination campaign. He highlighted a drop in dengue cases from 505 in 2024 to 99 in 2025 and none reported so far in 2026, attributing the decline to ongoing fogging, container removal and community participation. Granados, together with health officials, called on citizens to avoid storing water in containers, noting, “The rebirth of Matamoros is also built with health and prevention.”
