Mexican universities face record admission demand

The Universidad Tecnológica de Ciudad Juárez (UTCJ) has already issued over 2,600 admission tickets for the September‑December 2026 term, with the rector estimating up to 3,500 applicants. Registration, costing 524 pesos, began on May 11 and will close on June 19. Prospective students must take a virtual admission exam from June 26 to July 3, and the International Logistics Engineering program remains the most popular.

At the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM), 13,724 candidates sat the admission exam for the 2026‑2027 cycle, far exceeding the 8,450 available spots. More than 5,000 applicants will miss out in the first round, a rise of 1,500 from the previous year. The most competitive programs are Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Psychology, Law and Architecture. UAEM announced a rescue plan to re‑allocate about 2,000 students to roughly 20 programs with remaining capacity and introduced new courses in cybersecurity, data science, robotics, cinematography and physiotherapy. Results will be released on June 28.
