Mexican universities implement mental health and emotional wellbeing training
Universities in Mexico are implementing training programs focused on mental health and emotional wellbeing for staff and students.
The Universidad Pedagógica Nacional del Estado de Chihuahua (UPNECH) conducted a mindfulness course for teaching, administrative, and support staff. The initiative, based on a 2026 training needs diagnosis, aimed to provide tools for managing workplace stress through techniques such as the STOP method to encourage mindful responses to daily challenges.
Similarly, the Universidad Politécnica de Ramos Arizpe (UPRA) held a training session titled ‘Cuando me escucho, me cuido’ (When I listen to myself, I take care of myself). Led by Rector Aleida López Barrón and supported by the Secretariats of Health and Education and the Inspira Coahuila initiative, the program focused on helping faculty identify and address the socio-emotional needs of students to improve academic performance and integral development.
