UAEMéx expands international mobility and launches gender‑governance model amid record admissions

The Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) will send 139 students to study abroad in the fall 2026 semester, with 127 participating in mobility programmes across 14 countries and 12 enrolling in programs within three Mexican states. University officials said the exchanges aim to strengthen professional training, foster new competencies and raise the institution’s international profile.

At the same time, UAEMéx rector Martha Patricia Zarza Delgado presented a new gender‑governance model that seeks to embed substantive equality and care across teaching, research, extension and administration. The model is supported by the newly created Secretaría de Igualdad Sustantiva y Cuidados (SISyC) and a comparative diagnostic with universities in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, highlighting differences in governance approaches.

The university also reported a surge in applications for the 2026‑27 academic year, receiving 62,940 requests—well above previous years—and maintaining an enrollment of roughly 100,000 students. Capacity now reaches 64 % for high‑school level and about 40 % for undergraduate programmes, with regional campuses serving about half of the total student body.
