Mexican university basketball teams begin Liga ABE preseason

Various Mexican university basketball teams have begun preseason preparations for the 2026-2027 Liga ABE season through competitive tournaments and exhibition matches.

The Las Gallas of the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes participated in the Copa ABE in Teziutlán, Puebla. Facing high-level competition from Division I and other strong regions, the team faced three losses: 49-72 against Jaguares de UAMP, 45-76 against Águilas de la UAG, and 51-60 against Anáhuac de Xalapa. The participation served as a strategic rehearsal for their upcoming campaign.

In San Andrés Cholula, the Halcones Inter hosted BUAP for preseason games at the “Nido Naranja” gymnasium. The Halcones Inter women's team secured a 69-34 victory, marking the return of player Majo Vega following knee injuries. The men's team also won decisively, defeating the Lobos de la BUAP 94-47. The match featured several new roster additions and the return of Panamanian player D’Andre Green.
